"Where the Trees Speak" is a multidisciplinary, multi-project, multi-iterative work by the Wave Art Collective. Combining the collective's experience in music, film, fiction, public installation, and community arts education and engagement, the scope of the project intends to reflect and metaphorize the cyclical migratory history of Scarborough through the oral and unwritten histories that permeate the Rouge and its inhabitants. These themes will be disseminated throughout the following year in the form of a multi-disciplinary audio-based project as part of the Doris McCarthy Gallery and the University of Toronto Scarborough, which in itself merges short fiction stories, archives, photos, oral histories, and a musical project by Kevin A that underscores and glues the themes together. This project will precede and build up to the release of the collective's Nuit Blanche project, now set for October 2022.
Produced and empowered with the generous support of the Toronto Arts Council, Ontario Arts Council, the city of Toronto, and the Doris McCarthy Gallery.
